Walk
to the farm entrance and turn left towards Krieglerskraal. Continue for
about 1km and enter the big gate on your right (at the prickly pear),
walk another 2km to the earthen dam. There you'll see many birds. Return
via the same route or walk along another farm road, which starts further
along the dam wall at the open end of the dam. You should see a few
animals feeding activities en route! |

You
might want to tackle the big mountain at Krieglerskraal. Enter the gate
with the black marker on the right hand side of the road past the
Krieglerskraal "werf". There is a farm road going up the mountain but
not all the way to the top. Where the road ends, continue walking up to
the plateau and come down along the fence at the other end of the
mountain. On a clear day you can see for miles |

Head
for Krieglerskraal and take your water, hats, something to munch, etc.
The whole route is along a farm track. Park your car on the
Krieglerskraal premises and walk back for about 1km to the red gate on
your right (white markers on either side of the track). First beacon is
in line with the first redundant cement reservoir. About 500m further go
through the gate and walk along to the windmill and reservoir. If the
wing is blowing you can get fresh water from the windmill. The second
beacon is halfway up the first pass. Continue until you reach the fourth
gate and carry on to the third beacon, which is halfway up the second
pass. To the left is down to Muishoek, continue to your right. Carry on
to the "konsertina" gate to the second T-junction. To the left is Witkop
(White Head), keep right. About 1km from there is a fountain,
just off the road - it will be recognized by the salt lick troughs. Last
chance to fill your water bottles. Carry on till gate number 5, situated
in the neck, white paintings against the rocky ledge. Carry on through
gate number 6 until another T-junction, keep right as left goes to
Permotfontein. Go past second redundant reservoir through the 7th gate.
Carry on to gate number 8 at the main road. Turn right and follow main
road to Krieglerskraal. If you have found this strenuous, spare a though
for the poor guys who constructed the road! |

Time

Start
walking past the workroom, shearing shed and lucerne field on the left.
Continue for about 500m until you reach a small gate and the follow red
markers on the right, through the river (the worst part and that is very
easy!). Follow the markers to the small gate and carry on left over the
rocky "koppie" (hill) and approach the top quietly so not to
alarm the birds on the water! Continue along the fence for 500m till you
reach a small gate on your left, go through and follow the markers along
the fence in the sheep's path for about 2km. This fence crosses a
stream; do not cross the stream but continue walking in the path on the
right for another 1km. Take note of the big pool towards the end, as you
might need a dip! Where the fence crosses the stream there is a clear
marker where you must go over the fence. Follow the markers along the
fence to the big earthen dam wall. Again approach the dam quietly, as
there are plenty of wild geese and other birdlife. When the dam is full,
Johann is able to ski here. Walk along the top of the dam wall until you
reach a gate and the farm road. Now it's easy walking (5km) along the
road home. You'll notice a cluster of poplars and cypress trees on your
left. Pop in for a rest, as there is a fountain there. Continue along
the farm road, turn left and follow the road home! |

Start
off through the gate past the cowshed and loading ramp. Continue along
the farm road, through the dry riverbed (same route as GROENVLEI AT A
DISTANCE). Continue over the earthen dam wall but do not turn left
towards the weir. After 1.5km you will reach a gate; go through and
continue for about 800km to the next gate until you see the windmill and
"kloof" about 900m away. Return any way you like. Maybe along the rock
ledge on your left till you join GROENVLEI AT A DISTANCE |

Start
off past the cowshed, along the same route as to the KLOOF CAMP. Enter
the gate at the loading ramp and continue for about 2km until you reach
the fork; right is to the KLOOF CAMP. Take the road to the left and
follow the markers for about 1km. You'll reach a small gate on your left
(same as for MUISHOEK trail), go through the river, past the weir and
head for home past the lucerne shed, another 1km |
